How Have Bridal Gowns Changed Over The Years?
by: Lynn Brown
If the early seventies saw long, frilled wedding gowns, the dawn of the new millennium has seen a new style taking preference. In today’s age of no-frills everything, expect the wedding gowns to resemble the theme of today. Jewelry no longer holds the only thing to be focused on, although people still will tend to spend some time shopping for unique gifts and charms to memorialize the special day.
Bridal gowns are for all – the rich and for the ones who don’t have money. While people who have fat wallets like to splurge on designer gowns, the less affluent like to go for finances gowns. It must be said though that universally, almost all brides want their bridal gowns to be out-of-the-world, yet be something that matches the theme of the day.
Turning the clock back, one can’t help but imagine how weddings would have been in the early seventies or even earlier. Surely, by then, the entire focus of the guests would have been on the bridal gown. Not that it has changed much today, and in fact, if anything, people tend to look at bridal gowns from a style perspective. This is slightly different from all the previous year’s bridal gowns as then, people used to look at bridal gowns from a match and fit perspective.
Good bridal charm gifts compliment the bridal gowns have been something that has just come into vogue off late. You would have been ridiculed if you spoke about charms like TCharm couple decades ago. With a lot of emphasis on bridal gowns being treated as a style statement more than anything, you will find brides today willing to spend the extra buck to get their bridal gowns designed.
The type of fabric used in designing the bridal gowns is also becoming the talking point of the day. Some years back, brides just did not mind the type of fabric the bridal gowns were designed. More than being style conscious, nowadays brides wish to be increasingly comfortable when they take the walk down the isles. And why not! After all, it is their wedding, and they have all the rights to demand some extra comfort in their wedding gowns.
Finally, it must be said that the Internet revolution has changed most of what you see of bridal gowns today. While in earlier days, people had to go to shopping malls and clothing stores to buy bridal gowns, a lot of this has been done now on the Internet. Plenty of websites that sell and promote wedding gowns and inspirational charms along with jewelry are making waves. Would you believe that you could even have your own wedding gowns to be designed in some websites? Sounds strange, but some websites do offer this facility.
Bridal gowns have changed, and over the years, they have changed for good. Style was never a question with these gowns, but over the years, with designers adding a lot of flavor and comfort to these gowns, surely they are worth admiring ten times more than earlier.

Latest lip Line Treatments

Have you started to notice lines and wrinkles extending outwards from your lips? Does your lipstick bleed into the lines? Dr Sarah Hart of The Palm Clinic discusses how she treats this issue on her patients...
"Hi Sarah, I watched Skin Doctors on TV and a lady was having laser treatment for lines on her top lip. Do you do the same procedure and what would the cost be? Many thanks for your time. Regards Lyn"
  Hi Lyn,
The quick answer to your question is, no I don't do that process, but I can tell you about the option for treating lip lines. As you saw on TV, lip lines are best treated by laser, or addition with Botox or filler. makeup surgery (e.g. a facelift) doesn't usually help lip lines.
Also called smoker's or 'perioral' lines, lip lines are largely caused by the action of the circular muscle around the mouth. Sun damage, age and teeth loss also contribute. They can make you appear mean or 'pinch mouth and lipstick can bleed into them, so they are a source of dislike for many people.

The procedure you saw on 'Skin Doctors' was full-thickness laser resurfacing using the Erbium laser. This burns away the top layer of wrinkled skin allow smoother skin to replace it as it heals. It can be a good option for those looking for a once-only treatment. It is not suitable for people with dark skin because of the risk of uneven colour afterwards. You'll need a couple of weeks' off work as the new skin grows and the area can appear pink for a further couple of months.
If you can't afford time off work or have darker skin, the Fraxel, or limited resurfacing laser is a more gentle option with less risk of side effects. It gives a more moderate improvement in lip lines than full width resurfacing Expect skin to look pink and slightly swollen for a couple of days after each treatment.
For people who want an immediate result, are afraid of side effects or are unable to afford the cost of laser, injectable treatments are a definite alternative and very popular. Injectables are also used to improve th Injectable treatments last around six months and need regular top-ups to maintain the result. Temporary dermal fillers are my most optional injectable material.

Injectable treatments last around six months and need regular top-ups to maintain the result. Temporary dermal fillers are my most optional injectable material. I place filler under the lines to physically lift them. My personal favourite is Cosmoderm, which is human collagen grown in the laboratory.
It costs around $600 per treatment and lasts four to six months. It lifts the lines superbly and looks very soft and natural. Restylane Touch, made from hyaluranon, is another good option at the same price. Restoring a well defined border enhances the appearance of the entire lip area and if done carefully will not give you a 'trout pout'.

If you are reading this and don't have lip lines yet, prevention is better than cure. Use SPF15+ sunscreen DAILY on your face, and don't forget to apply it above your lips! Take good care of your teeth. And if you worship the evil cigarette plant, stub it out now. You'll be thanked for it when you're 35.
